Japan-like Scenes (but in Singapore)

When I showed these pictures to Shermaine, she got confused and wondered how I managed to take photos in Japan.. Well, its just that time of year again. Chinese New Year is approaching, and we've imported Cherry Blossoms! It so happens the new Buddha's Tooth Temple reminds her of some Japanese-style castle.

Cherry Blossoms in Singapore

Buddha's Tooth Temple

These were taken during my recent walk-about with my sister's Canon EOS500D coupled with an old Nikkor f/2.0 35mm legacy lens. The adaptor I ordered from eBay finally arrived a few days earlier. Prior to this, I had taken a manual film camera, Nikon FM2n, for about a week, shooting wherever I went. I guess being forced to manually focus on the exact point that you want (as opposed to letting the camera guess which point u want in focus) brought photography to a whole new level for me. I don't think I can go back to auto-focus again!!

I eat 5-grain porridge

Another example of how 5-grain porridge can be tasty (as prepared by Sherm). As usual, let it soak overnight, and it gets even better. =)

Taking time off to float

Taken over Christmas at the Laus' home - Sherm enjoys some off-time floating in the pool. My little niece Chloe had just vacated the seat by falling into the pool accidentally. Treacherous. Still, Shermaine got to benefit. =)
