The cost of failure is not that a saber-toothed tiger eats you... the cost of failure is nothing. The worst thing that will happen is that you will fail and no one will notice.
The upshot: Rather than avoiding risks for fear of failure, go for it. Your brain can try telling you that you're risking your life; you're not.

The Big Bang Theory

Sherm was introduced to a new sitcom recently, and we have started watching it together. Its called "The Big Bang Theory", and it's basically about 2 very awkward room-mates (they're nerdy science/ maths geeks) and their neighbour, a 'normal' hot girl. Together with their other 2 awkward geek friends (a jewish multi-linguist who hits on everything that can potentially wear a skirt, and an indian who is unable to speak in the presence of any female), they take the boy-meets-girl situations and presents it in a way that we both can easily identify with, and laugh rip-roaringly along with.
Each episode is peppered with physics principles and theorems, making this a rather intelligent comedy. Sherm usually either spots the theorem or explains it while the characters on screen are weaving it into their conversation, while I will point out the relationship nuances that are at play. Sheldon's personality quirks and obsessive-compulsive behaviour, together with Leonard's emotional roller-coaster woes (mainly caused by his new 'hot' female neighbour, Penny) makes for really humourous viewing.
Of late however, Sheldon's quirks and OCD behaviour, as well as his lack of social norms regarding human interaction is getting a tad tedious, and I hope the producers moderate this in future episodes.
On the whole, this series has captured our interest (we can watch 3 episodes at a go; in comparison, Sherm finds an episode of Friends torturous) and we thoroughly enjoy the inevitable hilarious dialogue and situations therein.
