it is rare that I go out and club.. and even rarer still that I am awake past 5am.. tonite, I hit 3 places, and I'm still awake at 7am.. it was a good nite. everything just fell into place! wat started out to be a letdown at zouk became a fun time at Union Sq (salsa), which then became an all out fast & furious drinking session at O-Bar.. Got really high.. danced really madly.. talked too much cock.. and it all culminated in a trance session outside the airfield at Seletar Airbase... nice..
Thanks Weilee, Mike, JY, Shannon, Mary-anne, Li-an, Li-an's frens, Shuyin, Jo, and your frens.. =)

.. today, the sun came out.. and it was good..
This Dude is opening up his house for a party on Sunday night! Cross Dress Party!! Come down in the evening, have a bite, and a couple of drinks. Party lasts all night, or till the booze runs out. Plus - its a holiday the next day.. Its just a last minute thing - realised that there wasn't much happening this weekend and it being a long one too, thanks to Joanna the pog, we decided to do this one drinking party where no one will be able to say "aww dang, I missed that!" And since its at my place.. everyone's invited - bring your frens, your relatives, your drinking buddy, your ex and stacy's mom even! so long as they're in drag, everyone's welcome (if they aren't, they just get to hang out in the back)!

What I've got:
- some food
- a bartender (good 'ole Mike)
- some liquor (could always do with more!)
- music (any volunteer DJs?)
- an all night license
- poker cards (now we noe wat this is for dun we? nope, we dun play for $$..)

What I need:
- a few more bottles of liquor
- lots of beer,
- you to come!

If you aren't dressed up - you sit in the back garden!

Mail/call/icq/msn me for the address if you dun already noe it!

thanks for the memories
Insightful 2 minute video by Eric Blumrich.
The Pink Elevator Ride
So there I was, walking back from Tamade (the French restaurant, not the hokkien expletive!). I approached the lift lobby of my office building and what I see there thru the glass doors - a tall, tanned chick in a pink halter. I smile thru the glass doors as I push them apart. I'm sure she saw it. As we enter the elevator, her mobile goes off, I ask which floor she was headed to, and in a sweet voice she replied "8 please..", then immediately in a less controlled, less sweet tone - "hello! huh? I dun think you can hear me, I'm in a lift!" the rest of the ride up I was staring at the buttons and the numbers change, while she stared at me (or the mirror beside me). I wonder if she knew how uncomfortable she was making me - she was standing almost in the middle of tht claustrophobic space, just half a step from me!
My stop arrived first, I stepped out and turned out of sight.. I walked thru the doors of my office, and then, halting, decided to find out what was on the 8th floor.. I'll go back down to look at the directory. I turned back and pressed for the lift. I saw that the same car was coming down from 8th.. sekali she's still inside..
As the lift door opens, I step forward.. and almost crash into a pink visage coming out! It's her! haha! I get in and we start kidding abt her blurness.. she said it din look like Her World up there. I ask her if she's got a number to call, she's already whipped out her organizer and is checking the details, verifies that it is indeed the 8th floor she's headed for. I hope she doesn't wonder why I'm going up and down for..
I get out at the ground floor and send her back up to 8th. I check out the directory and head back up.. the rest of the ride up was uneventful. I wish more such encounters would happen daily. It sure put a grin on my face.. =)

Disclaimer:
It just happened that she was a tall, tanned chick who wore a pink halter and spoke in a deceptively sweet tone. By no means does it imply that the author has a preference for tall, tanned chicks in pink halters and who speak in deceptively sweet tones.
MyDoom email worm virus.

I've been wormed. It was from a series of emails discussing a possible joint project between me and the sweetest gal (of all ppl..) In the process I received an Undelivered Mail Error msg from the company's server.. It did not state which message it was, so in my haste, I opened the attachment, not considering for a second why the error msg would be stored in a ZIP file, and not at all perturbed as to why the alleged msg would be in a file called "message.scr". SCR?? Brain was too eager that it did not consider why a msg was to be stored as a screensaver.. and.. whammo. I'm receiving mail error msgs left right and centre.. undelivered mails from email addresses I never knew existed. And I dunno which bloody worm this one is!
Doggone Demented Dunderheads !! Virulent Virus Variants!! Damn damn damn..

Update:
The Email Worm is called MyDoom or W32.Novarg.A@mm - one of the fastest replicating viruses so far, quite insidious and quite malicious to boot. And it keeps a log of your keystrokes, so watch out for your passwords!
Read about it here. Click here to remove it if you've been infected.
Funny how I thought I fixed it, but I'm still getting bounced mails returned?

"I want always to be a boy, and to have fun."
"You say so, but I think it is your biggest pretend."

Peter Pan
Was with some members of the Kai.. we went after fooling abt at Ryozan's place (which was a blast!) It was an utterly delightful movie. Fantastic! A flight of fancy.. imagination unleashed.. to be a boy again. Its supposed to be a Kids' movie.. but I absolutely loved it as a movie that can be broken down and examined thematically, and also enjoyed from a pure entertainment perspective.

Its a love story, a story filled with fun, a story abt life, it is bittersweet sad story. It is a mesh of everything.. one moment I'm being wowed by the imagined experience, next I'm filled with emotion, then I'm laughing, then I'm crying.. if there was a movie to sum up the Dude.. this would be it. Its such an emotive movie.

I love the themes involved too - youth, of being a boy who never has to worry abt growing up; of first love and not knowing wat to do, how to behave.. of being daring and fearless, cos there's nothing to fear yet; of obssession, of being so single-minded in pursuit that you fail to appreciate wat u have arnd u to the point of losing it all; of responsibility, of noeing what u have to do and the discipline to do so when required, even if it means making a sacrifice; of jealousy & guilt, and how those feelings can make someone do something they wouldn't normally do; of voyeurism, when the voyeur is given power over his object of affection; of sexual awakening/ tension, and the dawnings of an unmentioned yearning; of denial, not accepting an eventuality.. to run away from your problems, and into a fantasy; and others.

I am to watch it once more.. and I relish the thought. It would give me a better appreciation, and the company would be exquisite.

Quotes from the boy who never grows old:

Update:
sudden realisation.. Michael Jackson lives in Never Land.. *drawing comparisons* ... *getting worried*

I am a skeptic. I feel that there are ulterior motives to every action. I doubt even simple basic thing like making friends. Perhaps I am so affected by all this cos I myself practice it? Its a thought.

I talked to Leonie tonite.. and her simplistic God-skewed response gave me something to think abt. She also mentioned that I should try to see God in the ppl I meet.. I will try that tmr. time to rekindle that faith..
What is the measure of our existence? how do we justify our presence? are we valued as members of society? as persons? as human beings? as friends?
When I was but a young impressionable boy, I read somewhere that the value of a person's life was measured by what he was remembered for, ie. his legacy, impressions of him, and his contributions to ppl in general. When I was at that age, it felt like the only ppl who would miss me if I died were my immediate family members. I din even have any frens who were close. tho I was young, it got ingrained in me that I wanted to leave something of substance behind.
Since then, I've done many things, some of which I'm proud for, some of which I'm not. Some have been rather outstanding, and for these ppl say I should be so lucky, so able, so priviledged.. All this was to add to what I would be remembered for when I die.
But when I think abt it.. what's the point of being remembered when you're dead? Wouldn't you rather get the appreciation NOW?
This post has neither head nor tail (as they say). Tonite, I was seething yet again.. but its cos I'm an emotional being - I noe not why I feel the way I do, I just do. Dun ask me why, but you're prolly a part of it. My head's still aching now, and my eyes seem to be bulging frm my sockets. my breath, previously ragged, has now become more regular. I wish I could just brush my feelings aside.
I was contemplating shutting down this blog tonite as well. Sometimes I dun see the point. But I rem that many ppl DO appreciate what they read here.. the experiences that I go thru, the things that I see, and the occasional wool that I try to pull over your eyes.
But as a signal for help, as a cry in the dark, it is totally helpless.. I've learnt that most ppl dun act on what they read. They read and go.. hey.. that's a nice story. and close the book.

My life.. is in shambles. I've lost control. and its spiralling.. down down down..

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men, yet they display it so easily, just read it from their faces.

Lust for intelligence - but that's not the only cause. I've never seen you throw yourself at anyone before - tonite, I have. and I worry. I doubt your intentions are purely as you will say they are. I worry that the ghosts of the past will haunt your future.
Envious of the free - freedom from the clutches of birth. why choose to lock yourself up when the key is just in front of u? you take it. you throw yourself into the best seat that lands you the most fun while the cat's away. it just wouldn't make sense if you didn't.
Slothfulness is another. The fact that you would most likely go home and while your time away doesn't deter you. But why do that when you have a better alternative in front of u? I would too. I dun blame you.

I act like I am God. Yet I know nothing abt the ways of men. I am but a man and the biggest headache this man has now is that of choosing to leave smtg which my frens choose to ingratiate themselves to. I am torn. Perhaps this cup is just not meant for me to take.
Irrationality- the order of the day
irrationally I anticipated a great nite out
irrationally I left a grp of frens and came home
irrationally I sped thru the CTE at 140...
irrationally I ended the nite

questions.. doubts.. mostly personal inhibitions.. self-bashing seems to be the root of all evil. i've become the boy i once was yet again.

This Diary Will Change Your Life - 20 Jan 2004

Today is Poetry Day.. Here're our contributions:

The day so bright
it makes me light
A great day for the beach,
Rather than indoors lookin bleak!

Smile guys! - We'll survive!
No matter how late we arrive!
It's Poetry Day today,
So let's all be (so) gay!

HAPPY TUESDAY! :-)

~Kaz

In light of the tasks at hand,
The end of day doth beckon.
To sink beneath the load: a grand plan?
I think not, I believe you?d reckon.
So try as I might to recover from this plight,
I choose instead to stray from the norm.
Because I know that treasures lie just out of sight-
What follows darkening night is a fresh new morn

~Me

Sorry guys , I may have left it too late
But I'll think of some crap to regurgitate,

Of Poetry day I've not been a fan
Everything's gone wrong for this sad A&H man

It's been helped along by a Hoegaarden and Strawberry shake
But as someone once said, "One swallow does not a blue movie make"

So let's hope that Patriot day has greater success
And we can all go down the pub and leave the place in a mess

Talking of which is that the time, I'll think I'll end this pathetic rhyme

The pub's a calling, it's time for more beer
besides I'm the only sad Bastard still here!

~Rob

The Book - We've had Give-Someone-the-Finger-Without-Them-Knowing Day, and Secret-Agent Day so far.. Its definitely been quite wacky this past week here at the office with Kaz & Rob - my bosses!

There is much joy to be had in every waking day. Waking up in itself is something to be thankful for. That we can see the sun rise; that we can hear the neighbour's water pipes rumble; that we can feel the shocking cold of the morning shower..
Sometimes we dun realise how much we have; we complain abt not having this or that, but we dun realise the things we do have. until someone points it out. even then, we may just shrug it off.
there is just so much out there, things we've not even experienced, experiences we've yet to encounter, encounters we've yet to chance upon. corniness we've to learn to dissipate. Ultimately, there is much to embrace that we may not have done so yet. Take this moment to recognise that.
Anyway, how often I am reminded that I've to take stock of the little & big joys in my life, yet I still get so down over little things.. God give me strength. God.. hmm.. Give me strength.

In every day, there is a fat hope (or twenty)
everyday, I wake up and I have to put my thoughts in order. sometimes they get a bit messed up - losing the sense of organisation that I so wish would take tighter reign during these times. What screws up my head are the random uncontrolled thoughts that arise from a sudden recollection or a sudden desire. If these were to be fulfilled as often as they occur, then I would have no qualms whatsoever in having random unordered thoughts or again, fat hopes (but then, they wouldn't be called that anymore now would they?). But they don't get fulfilled (at least not as often as I would like it to be). thus they shall insofar as I do not get my desired fixes, remain irrevocably known as fat hope.

Everyday I read of someplace being blown up, of ppl dying, of treachery being wrought under our very eyes, of disease being spread.. it felt like this year was going to be a great year.. but it seems the papers reflect otherwise. why can't we all just be peace-loving.. and not kill kill kill.. death and destruction, violence aplenty. our own eden of solace exists only in our minds. we find ways to block it out, but it penetrates ever deeper with every dawning day.

What they world needs now,
Is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now
Is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone
I caught her scent once again.. inhaling deeply, I trail my nose along the edge of her upper arm. I close my eyes and lose myself in the headiness of it all, that scent I know so well.. feeling her so close by.. she says something totally out of character.. and makes me laugh once again. She's wearing her new "work-glasses".. I tell her that she looks so much more mature - she says that it means she looks old, but I reassure her that I meant sophisticated.. the untouchable working exec tht she is.. i realise I've been hypnotised by the movement of her luscious red lips - they look so soft and inviting. i noe she feels good. as do i. and all is perfect this evening. If I could but keep her in my snow-globe forever..
Singapore Youth Kendo Tournament 2004

The above-mentioned event will be held
on 18th Jan 2004, Sunday,
at NUS Competition Hall

(Sports & Recreational Centre, SRC, the dodgy dark hall beside MPSH 1, opp the Old Gym, parallel to swimming pool).

I will be representing the NUS Kendo Kai for what could be my last year (I think I can prolly tweak the rules a bit since by right I will be graduating in 2004, so I mite be able to take part next year as well!). All are invited to come down and watch some good Kendo matches. If you've ever been curious to know more about the shouting and screaming.. and more likely - does it hurt? Come anytime between 9am - 3pm.

Thereafter, I will be having a screening of a certain ultimate angmor samurai dvd at my place. All are invited. Mee siam will be provided. Just let me know of course. =)

Misadventures in Malaysia
What should have turned out to be a day trip to JB for horse-riding turned into an all day/night romp thru JB which culminated in a Beamer passenger window being smashed!
The Horse-riding bit:
We actually made it in time for the horse-riding lesson this time, and the lesson/trail ride went by uneventfully. 6 of us young adults ended up playing a fool at the Riders' Lodge with these expat kids.. Henry, Arabella & Francesca - cute little things really. Esp Henry with his oversized red cap that he seemed so proud of. =)
Restoran Kimdo The:
We ended up going for seafood dinner at Eden Garden (aka Stulang Laut) again.. last nite, the food that we had was kinda dodgy. Where I raved abt the food from Restoran Kimdo previously, this time we had many problems with the various dishes. Kailan din look like kailan - more like it was bred with a strain of asparagus.. the superb butter prawns turned out to be shrunken prawns.. and the chili crab came with enough sauce for 4 man-tous (we had ordered 12!)..
After the not-too-awful dinner (the other dishes may have redeemed it, but more likely it was the great company of Kaz, Boon, Weilee, JY and ALCY), we proceeded to the carpark and said our goodbyes (we had come in 2 cars). As we were reversing out, Boon appeared saying he locked himself out of his car!!
The BMW:
The Beamer was so secure even the owner couldn't get back in! There were 4 sets of keys in the car that nite, of which 3 were in the boot, and the 4th one was a valet key, which would not allow the boot/glovebox to be opened - THANK GOD they din leave the passports in there!
While waiting for SG Performance Motor's ppl to call back with regard to a few matters we had to check before doing the inevitable window-breaking, we all had a sudden karaoke craving.. However, due to the lack of karaoke places at Stulang laut, we ended up in the 5th floor concourse pub of Eden Garden hotel, wherein a cheesy 4 person singing group was performing. 3 dancing girls and 1 guy playing the keyboards - all 4 of them sang at different songs. That wasn't the interesting bit - we spent the next few hours throwing peanuts at each other, salsaing till the hotel management told us not to, and embarrassing Weilee in front of quite a few of the hotel guests.
When the confirmation came that smashing the window and opening the lock from the inside would not immobolise the car and leave them stranded in JB, we then went to do the deed. By that time, the open-air carpark had turned into a car rally of sorts. It looked like Fast & Furious, Malaysian style! But the souped up cars were all kanchils and similar wee cars.. The centre of attraction being this jeep with super speakers in the back. We ended up smashing the passenger's side window of said BMW in front of the amazing mat audience. And yes, we did attract quite a bit of attention too..
I never realised how much glass-dust there could be when smashing a window in.. but we realised that posed a threat as the wind blew into the car if they were to drive off. So we jury-rigged the window with cardboard and rope (not being able to find plastic sheets n masking/ scotch tape).. and by the time we got back to SG - 1:30am.. Quite late for that Hollywood vs Bollywood party that I was supposed to attend..
The Party:
When I got there, 3 ppl were lining the drain outside the house, spewing their guts out. Kudos to the bartender - Mike. The best house party of the year was a let down for me cos of the above (simultaneous hurling is a sign that partgoers should be pretty much as tanked as they can get).. but all in all, the day was still a blast. How more eventful can it get?

Thursday, January 8, 2004

I had 2 gay guys criticise my dressing today! SIMULTANEOUSLY! And it wasn't my usual sloppy attire too! We're talking abt me in my work-clothes here - long sleeved + tie etc.. and I was wearing my fave pinstripe black pants too! SIGH...
Anyway, one of them has offered to go shopping with me. Nice! I've alwiz wanted a fag fren! I should stop using such words tho.. haha..
I love listening to her speak, watching her lips move..
I live so that I can be close to her once again.

My precious..

"Precious, precious, precious!" Gollum cried. "My Precious! O my Precious!"
And with that, even as his eyes were lifted up to gloat on his prize,
he stepped too far, toppled, wavered for a moment on the brink,
and then with a shriek he fell.

Out of the depths came his last wail Precious, and he was gone.

Quote of the day:
"Sales: an integral part of lie"
Don't Panic
Coldplay

Oh, we're sinking like stones
All that we fall for
All those places we've grown
All of us are done for

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world,
Oh, we're sinking like stones
All that we fall for
Homes, places we've grown
All of us are done for

We live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world.

Oh, all that I know,
There's nothing here to run from,
And there, everybody here's got somebody to lean on.

Why I wanna go to Peru..

Sigh.. a plane trip that'll take over 36 hrs & cost more than $5K; a language I cannot speak, and yet a life to still lead - one I can't run away from indefinitely. we'll see how long this will take me to make happen..

Won't you pls take me away? just u and me, and that dog named boo.

Misc. pics of late:
Scream was a hit with the photo-hungry on boxing-day at Jute's house...

santa's little helper getting a little help frm santarina..

NYE: Ultimo Salsa party at Chijmes, and then post-party at Xenbar. no pics of the post-post-party at Hotel Intercon tho.. but I must say that was the first time I rode my bike when I was that high.. =)
Its all about that damned streetcar. I believe that one has to have a desire to want something in order to bother abt it. I've come to accept that cock-ups happen - these will introduce disappointments every single day of our lives in any possible way. As such, I do not desire. I try not to get too enthusiastic abt anything, for fear that it will not come to pass, and that I'll get really excited abt it only to realise that the bubble has popped. Thus it seems as tho I walk arnd with a cloud of grey over me.. sometimes.
Cos there are times where I am just so filled with joy, that I exude it, and share it with anyone who passes. I realise these moments abound as well, and I alwiz look into myself to find out how I can harness it to prolong it. There are only so few things that make me happy that way. and I noe where my life is headed. I noe what I need in order to secure a joyful life. the only thing is: how do I attain these comfort-giving entities?
And then it all boils back to desire again, and I've come to see that I do indeed desire afterall. I long. I yearn. I want. just like you. Now I just need you to feel that way for me too.
